In this month's e-Zine;
"When I was 14 I couldn’t believe how ignorant my parents were, and when I became 21 I couldn’t believe how much they had learned in 7 short years." - Mark Twain
Learning from the Past
This month I was blessed to have a visit from my wonderful parents. We spent hours talking about what life was like when they were young.
One of my favourite things is to learn from the past - about how things were done in the years gone by. I find this to be the best way to learn and remember techniques for living naturally.
In the past, before the widespread use of pharmaceuticals, microwave ovens and fast food, and before the explosion of cosmetics, skin care and cleaning products people still managed to get through the day ... imagine that!!!!!
The truth is, all of those things that are widely used now detract from our health and wellbeing, but they are so commonplace that many people no longer remember that there are healthier and more natural ways to go through our daily routines.
Even though it may take longer (and only slightly or not at all in some cases) I encourage all of you to get back to what is natural.
The chemical side effects and the toxic load from all the many modern practices (microwaves, overusing over the counter and prescription drugs, using commercial cleaning products, using an abundance of skin care/cosmetic items, ingesting fast food, etc., etc.) is extremely detrimental to our health, the health of our families and the health of the planet.
If you start shifting your life away from toxic modern practices and towards more natural alternatives you will find that you can still have everything you always did - and in a more natural, balanced and healthy manner.
The trick here is to embrace the modern while still holding on to the time tested practices of the past. Incorporate only the modern day inventions that enhance the effectiveness of natural practices without adding any toxicity to them.
My site is a growing resource for just these types of natural practices.
What I learn from my parents works well for those in the tropics as that is where they grew up, but it isn't always easy to convert what they did there to where I live now. For this reason I encourage all of you to speak to your own parents or the elders in the place where you are living now. Learn from them about how they used to do simple daily tasks. What did they use for brushing their teeth, washing their hair, doing laundry? How did they prepare food for the winter, how did they prepare the spices they used. Ask questions and listen to what they share.
Incorporate that wisdom into your modern life and enjoy being connected to the past and being nurtured from age old remedies and practices that have sustained humans for thousands of years.... this is where true wisdom lies.
Time for Spring Cleaning
It is that time of year to start thinking about spring cleaning. As the winter fades away it is the perfect time to clear out the old and make way for the new.
Go through your home, room by room, and donate the things you haven't used in a long time - there is someone out there that would love to have that dress or that fishing rod that you no longer use. Create space in your home and then do some deep cleaning of that wonderful space in order to welcome in the energy of spring.
And, for your body do some spring cleaning as well. This is the best time of year to do a cleanse - give your body a chance to eliminate anything it may have been holding on to. A cleanse will energize and invigorate your system clearing a path for, not only better absorption of nutrients, but also clearing your energy and mind space for new creative projects and endeavours.
Spring is here!! Take advantage of all the fresh energy it brings with it and invite that into your life.

Natural Cold and Flu Remedies
The changing of the seasons is sometimes accompanied by colds, sniffles and fevers by many. If you or your loved ones find yourselves in this camp I've got some great natural remedies to help you on your way to feeling great again.
First off, take the advice in the above section and arrange to give yourself the gift of a cleanse during this time. Often times a cold is our body's natural way of cleansing what has been built up. So, by doing a cleansing detox at this time you will be helping your body to do what it is doing anyway and the uncomfortable symptoms won't last as long. There are many ways of treating the symptoms of a cold and flu naturally. Like mentioned at the top of this newsletter, I learn much of this from age old remedies that have proven effective for generations. These are all remedies that are close to Nature, very effective, completely non-toxic and that actually help to build health and strengthen immunity.
