Natural Makeup - Non-toxic Cosmetics
by Nadia Harper
Natural makeup, that is non-toxic makeup, is something that has been on my mind for a while now.
Living a natural, non-toxic life is something that I focus on daily. I have chosen to live (for right now) in a big urban city so there are toxins/pollution that I am exposed to daily that I have no control over.
But there is much that I do have control over and that is what I focus on. I try to make the best and most healthy (and fun) choices possible.
Makeup is one of those things that is fun to play with in life. Just as it is fun to occasionally dress up in fancy clothes, I also find it fun to, occasionally dress up my face with makeup.
BUT the makeup that is commercially available can be horrendously toxic, not to mention expensive. I never want to put that toxic makeup anywhere near my face.
So, I have had the intention for a long time to figure out how to have fun with all the makeup that I want to play with but to do it naturally and have it be non-toxic. There is ALWAYS a way - I know this.
I don't have it all figured out just yet but I am getting there and I am having fun doing so.
Just last week I played in the kitchen and made a really beautiful lip gloss with a gorgeous deep red colour. I was thrilled!
I have played with some other
ways of making my own lipstick but they never really came out right and I was never happy with how they felt on my lips.
Then...
Last week I made this gorgeous red lip gloss that looks great and feels great on my lips. And it is completely natural and non-toxic. YAY!!!!!
Every time I learn something or create something like this that I am so excited about, I can't help but want to share it. I know there has to be others out there trying to figure out the same stuff.
So, I have figured out my non-toxic lip colour and have posted the recipe here on this site.

I call it lip gloss but I have actually used this same colouring on my cheeks and on my eyelids. It is a really nice rouge and eyeshadow that you can play with.
I have come up with other ideas for non-toxic rouge and eyeshadow and as I get those perfected I will be delighted to share those as well.
Like I said, I know that there are others out there also playing with how to dress up our faces all natural and non-toxic. What have you made? What ideas do you have? I would love to hear, please share any comments below or hop on over to the lip gloss page and leave a comment there.
Nature provides everything we need to be and to display to others our true Goddess Being. Keep playing and have fun with it!
